Dear Truman Community,

Please join us to provide thanks and and say goodbye to Executive Secretary Fred Slabach at a Truman Scholars Association happy hour at Potenza from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010.

As you have likely heard, Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation Executive Secretary Fred Slabach is making an exciting move. He was selected to serve as the 19th President of Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, where he previously served as Dean of the Law School.

Although we are all sad to see Fred, a 1977 Truman Scholar, leave the position of Executive Secretary, we are thrilled for him to embark on this new and exciting opportunity and thankful for the tremendous service he has provided. We also are pleased that he will continue to remain involved as Treasurer of the Foundation's Board.

Many Scholars have expressed their desire to see Fred off before he leaves Washington. The Truman Scholars Association has organized an informal happy hour so that Scholars may have the opportunity to drop-in and say goodbye and thank Fred for his service. Please join us at Potenza (http://www.potenzadc.com/), located at the corner of 15th and H Street, NW, Washington, DC, on Monday, December 13th, from 5-7 p.m.

We hope to see you there!
