Jake Zimmerman (MO '95)

Jake Zimmerman (MO '95) is a lifelong resident of St. Louis County who grew up in Clayton and attended Clayton public schools. He is a graduate of Clayton High School, Claremont McKenna College in Southern California, and Harvard Law School in Massachusetts.  He graduated from each of the latter two institutions magna cum laude, and served in prominent elected student leadership positions while at both schools. 

Jake currently lives in Olivette and serves as State Representative for the 83rd District of Missouri, which includes territory within the cities of Olivette, Overland, Charlack, Sycamore Hills, and University City, along with the communities of Elmwood Park and West Overland in unincorporated St. Louis County.  Jake was elected to the legislature in November, 2006.

Jake is an attorney who has practiced in both the private and public sectors.  He has served as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel in the office of former Missouri Governor Bob Holden, advising the Governor on a variety of legal and policy issues. Previously, as Assistant Attorney General in the office of Attorney General Jay Nixon, Jake worked on behalf of citizens victimized by fraud and illegal business practices. Jake has also represented private sector interests, including some of the most prominent businesses in St. Louis, during two different stints as a commercial litigator at Thompson Coburn, LLP, a law firm in downtown St. Louis.

Earlier in his public service career, Jake’s internships included work with federal prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney’s office in St. Louis, service in Congressman Gephardt’s leadership office, and a White House Internship in 1996.  Jake is also a veteran of multiple political campaigns, including work as a field director for the Democratic coordinated campaign, based in Overland, in the 2000 election.

Jake has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to public service with numerous awards, of which the most notable is the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship.  He is active in charitable and civic affairs, including several organizations within the St. Louis Jewish community.
