Margie Omero
Margie Omero is President and founder of Momentum Analysis, LLC, a Democratic public opinion research firm based in Washington, DC. Omero’s clients include the DNC, the DCCC, EMILY’s List, Members of Congress, non-profits and labor unions, and campaigns around the country from City Council to US Senate. She was an integral part of the upset victories of Congressman Chris Carney and Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper, both from Pennsylvania. An award-winning pollster, Omero was recently named one of “50 Politicos to Watch” by The Politico online journal.
Omero, a SheSource/Women’s Media Center expert, frequently comments on political trends, and appears regularly on television, radio, and print. Her work for the website pollster.com has appeared in the Washington Post, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Wall Street Journal, at Salon.com, and at The Huffington Post. She has authored several chapters on women and voting.
One of only a handful of principal female political pollsters in the country, Omero was the 2006 recipient of Women’s Information Network’s “Young Women Of Achievement” award. In 2003, after only her first cycle running Momentum Analysis, the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) named Omero “Rookie of the Year,” an award meant to cut across party lines and consulting disciplines. And in 2000, Campaigns and Elections magazine recognized Omero as a “Rising Star.” Omero has also served on the board of WeLead, a bipartisan program that trains young women for careers in politics.
Prior to launching Momentum Analysis, Omero was a Vice President at The Mellman Group, a research firm also in Washington, DC. While there, Omero worked on the firm’s research for non-profits such as World Wildlife Fund, Trust For Public Lands, the Pew Charitable Trusts, and the League of Women Voters. Omero also coordinated the firm’s work on Fortune Magazine’s Power 25, which was an annual list of the most powerful organizations in Washington, DC. Omero also handled the firm’s research for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and for numerous other Democratic candidates, such as Senator Maria Cantwell (WA), Senator Tim Johnson (SD), former Majority Leader Tom Daschle (SD), former Minority Leader Dick Gephardt (MO-3), and Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (NV-1).
Omero is a professionally trained focus group moderator who has personally conducted nearly a thousand focus groups, while also being professionally and academically trained in statistical sampling and survey methodology. She is a member of the American Association of Political Consultants, where she has been a frequent judge for the group’s annual awards for campaign advertising. Omero has a bachelor’s degree and graduated with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in the University’s prestigious honors program, studied psychology and research methodology, and wrote her honors thesis using longitudinal survey data. She lives in Washington, DC.
