Dear Truman Scholar Association Members,

The Truman Scholars Association (TSA) Nominating Committee is accepting applications for open seats on our governing body, the Board of Directors. Truman Scholars from all years and backgrounds are encouraged to apply by completing the following two-part process by Monday, June 21 (DEADLINE HAS NOW PASSED)

1) Complete the on-line application (no longer available)

2) E-mail a PDF copy of your resume to tsa@trumanscholars.org

TSA Directors serve a three-year term on a voluntary basis, designing and implementing a variety of programs for Truman Scholars. Past activities have included the 2009 National Conference, Meet-and-Greets and Finalist Dinners across the country, creating and maintaining a TSA Blog, and fundraising and development via the Truman Scholars Annual Fund. The TSA Board has also expanded our web presence through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other online tools for social interaction.

We would like to continue these initiatives, thus we encourage Scholars with event planning, social media, blogging, and/or development experience to apply. New Directors will also play an integral role in shaping next year’s agenda.

TSA Directors commit to two conference calls per month (committee and full board meetings) and work on TSA projects in between these meetings. Attendance and full-participation on each conference call is expected, and we rely on the follow-through of our Directors regarding their projects. The total time commitment for Directors is estimated at 3-5 hours per month.

We strive to ensure that a broad and diverse range of interests, backgrounds, geographic regions, public service experiences, and Truman Scholar classes are represented on the Board. Thus, we encourage all Truman Scholars, old or young, in public service or not, to apply for election.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at tsa@trumanscholars.org, or contact the current Directors directly via their email addresses listed below.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 21. A Nominating Committee, composed of current Board members, will meet on June 28 to propose a slate of nominees to the full Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will then vote on the new board on Monday, July 5, with announcement of the new Board soon thereafter.

We hope that you will consider applying for this important role for our Truman Scholar community.

Sincerely,

Your TSA Board of Directors
